If you have a proxy server,
this may be the problem. To configure the
proxy server, go to ViewletACE Preferences
by selecting “Edit – Preferences” from
the drop-down menu. Next, click on the
Proxy tab and enter your information.
Another possible cause of the problem may be related to your firewall. You
may want to temporarily disable your firewall and see if that resolves the
problem. If you are then able to connect, you will need to configure your firewall
to let ViewletACE communicate with ViewletCentral. Generally firewalls will
configure dynamically when ViewletACE is first run, prompting you to give it
access to the internet. If this is not the case, you may need to configure
it manually. The configuration will vary based on the firewall you are running.
You will need to make sure that the following program can access the internet:
C:\Program Files\Qarbon\ViewletACE 2006\jre\bin\javaw.exe. Your firewall should
use HTTP on port 80.
Finally, if neither of these resolves the problem, take a look at the Output
window in ViewletACE by selecting “View – Output” from the
drop-down menu and see if any error messages are displayed during connection.
